Computing

“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don't really even notice it, so it's part of everyday life.” Bill Gates, Co-founder of Microsoft

The use of information technology is embedded into a wide-range of subjects at Great Whelnetham, but the subject of Computing aims to teach children a wide range of skills specifically relating to how computers work and understanding the programming languages which they use, as well as teaching them digital literacy. Our curriculum will ensure that all of our children are confident and independent users of technology and that they can accomplish a wide variety of goals both at school, and at home.  We use learning platforms including Purple Mash, Bedrock and Google Classroom to add an extra dimension to our computing and strengthen links between home and school. Great Whelnetham School takes online safety extremely seriously. Details of how we approach that can be found in the curriculum documents below. Further information is also available on the Safeguarding section of this website.
