Remembrance Celebration

We were delighted to be asked to contribute to the display of work at the Community Centre in Great Whelnetham for the Remembrance Day event on Sunday 10 November.

The children in Early Years and Years One and Two created poppy friezes which were on display and learnt about the symbolism of the poppy.  The older children wrote diaries and letters from the perspective of World War One soldiers, as well as poems.  It meant the children got in touch with the experiences of the men involved and began to appreciate their contribution to the freedoms we enjoy today.  Also the contribution of people currently in service.

Some of the children read their work aloud at the event, which was very moving, and an informative experience for them.
