Park & Stride

Park and Stride encourages those who have to drive to school due to the distance they are travelling, to park at the Great Whelnetham Community Centre and walk the remainder of the way. This will not only keep the school gates clear of congestion but also means pupils will be able to get active on their journey to school.

Other benefits include helping to maintain good relationships with our neighbours and importantly it will also make it safer for our pupils to cross the road near the school.

Supervised walking to school in this way helps children to develop their road safety skills and it is important that they are able to prove to you that they know what to do to keep themselves safe, for when they will be walking and crossing roads independently.

Children in Years 5 and 6 currently have the option of leaving the school site independently, subject to the school receiving the appropriate authorisation. It may be helpful for parents of children in Years 3 and 4 to take advantage of the Park and Stride option in preparation for this.

We hope you will take the opportunity to use the Park and Stride site to help ease the congestion around school in the mornings and after school. Thank you.
