Owls Learning 2017/18
Owls have some wonderful things planned for this academic year. Here's what they've been up to.
Maths Roadshow - making maths fun!
Owls were lucky enough to take part in a Maths Roadshow delivered by some Year 8 students from King Edwards School.
During the roadshow Owls took part in different games and challenges, designed and led by the Year 8 students. The games involved many different aspects of Maths including fractions, coordinates and measures.
It was a fantastic morning of Maths!
To finish our topic on the 'Amazing Amazon' we made designed and shoe box rain forests using a range materials!
We all had great fun making them.
In Maths, Owls Class have been learning about perimeter. They went outside and measured the length of the playground. They were also given the challenge of drawing rectangles in groups and working out their perimeters. They then converted these lengths between centimetres and metres.
String Telephone Science Experiment
Owls have been investigating how sound travels. We made string telephones and tested how the sound travels and what happened to the sound over different distances.
In Science Owls have been looking at states of matter.
We carried out different experiments with water to see if we could see the processes of evaporation, condensation and melting taking place.
