Enrichment Day: Kagera

23rd March 2017

This whole school event had children working in mixed groups and moving around a carousel of activities.

The Diocese of St Edmundsbury has a partnership link with the Kagera Diocese, which is situated in the top north western corner of Tanzania in Africa. Despite much poverty, the church is growing in Kagera and many social, medical and educational programmes are run locally by its clergy and Mother’s Union.

From fundraising on the day and at a special assembly the children have raised a wonderful £179.22 to go to Kagera.

Some of the Kagera Day activities included:

  • African dance
  • Animal mask making
  • Making signs of forgiveness
  • Creating a word quilt with Swahili phrases
  • Singing and signing a Swahili song
  • Preparing and tasting some African fruits.
