  • 65% of last year’s Reception pupils reached the government’s expected ‘Good Level of Development’ (the national average = 71%).
  • Year 1 pupils completed the government's Phonics Screening Check in June, and 91% achieved the expected level (the national average =81%).
  • In Year 2, 20% of the pupils who did not achieve the expected level in Year 1 phonics managed to achieve it in 2017 (the national average = 91%).
  • In Year 2:

o    52% of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading ( the national average = 76%).

o    48% of pupils achieved the expected standard in writing (the national average = 68%).

o     52% of pupils achieved the expected standard in maths (the national average = 75%).

 

  • In Year 6:

o    67% of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading (the national average =71%).

o    67% of pupils achieved the expected standard in writing (the national average = 76%).

o    72% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (the national average =77%).

o    72% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Maths (the national average =75%).

o    61% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths combined (the national average = 61%).

 

This was the first year of the National Curriculum SAT tests at the end of Key Stage 2 at Great Whelnetham School.
